Cards do not need to be complex and packed full of content to be beautiful, some of the simplest cards I have seen have been the most stunning, and lets face it, if like me you have a family or a busy lifestyle there just simply are not enough hours in a day to craft a complex card! So with that in mind, here starts a series of cards that are simple to throw together, but with hopefully enough decoration to allow the sentiment to ‘pop!’
CUTTING: I cut my 12″ x 12″ whisper white cardstock once at 4″ straight across the cardstock, this piece I then turned and cut at 8″ then the remainder of the cardstock was cut into three 4″ x 8″ strips.
SCORING: All of these I scored at 4″ to give me four 4″ x 4″ card bases
STAMPING: I chose this stamp out of the Thankful Thoughts Stamp Set, and using a Clear block Size D, I inked it up with the Dapper Denim Classic Ink Pad. I also stamped the diagonal background stamp onto whisper white cardstock.
PUNCHING: Using the 2″ Circle Punch I lined up and cut the sentiment, then used the Starburst for a layer of gold and used the 2 1/4″ Circle punch to cut a layer out of the diagonal striped whisper white for behind that
PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER: I picked the gorgeous flowery washi and the metallic gold spotty washi tape both from the now retired (take a look in the clearance section 😉) Affectionately yours washi collection, plus the subtle stripe washi from the Warmth and Cheer collection to add stripes across my card base.
Then using the fine tip glue pen to stick the striped circle down, as well as gluing the sentiment to the gold starburst.
Some Stampin’ Dimentionals were added under that starburst to give that sentiment a pop!
I finished by using my bone folder along the card crease just to make it fold neatly.
Here’s what I used for this project…
